PLEASE SEE MY GOOGLE REVIEWS TO SEE WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY ABOUT ME AND MY SERVICES

why sports massage?

why sports & remedial massage?

its not just for sporty people!

A popular misconception is that my services are just for sports people. My treatments are for absolutely anyone of any age who doesn't necessarily participate in sport, but still has muscular pain or dysfunction caused by their jobs or lifestyle. I also treat people who are involved in sport from amateur to elite level. So, whether you suffering from muscle injury or dysfunction caused by a weekly jog or sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day, or events such as Ironman/Triathlons, sports massage can be very beneficial.

Many of my clients play no part in sport whatsoever but have issues relating to their jobs. People with desk based jobs come to see me to resolve common issues like lower back and neck pain. I will provide treatment and advice to reduce symptoms and stop them coming back.

In the first session I will go through your medical history with you to ascertain if previous injuries or issues may be contributing to your current problem. I try and keep this as brief as possible so don't worry, there is still plenty of time for treatment in this first session. All information is confidential and is not shared with anyone (client/patient confidentiality).

I provide more than “just” a sports massage and offer advanced soft tissue techniques that can assist with relief from long standing chronic muscular or joint pain that other therapists may have been unable to resolve, as well as injury assessment and rehabilitation advice.

Many issues I see relate to neck, shoulder and back pain caused by sedentary jobs which involve sitting for long periods of the day (computer based or similar). Other short term pastimes such as DIY or gardening can cause similar problems. This can potentially impact muscle and joint function within the body. I use many different techniques to reduce this type of pain and increase range of movement through the affected joints.

For those involved in either professional or amateur sports it can be effective in enhancing recovery time, sporting performance and endurance. Massage also helps to increase joint mobility allowing improved range of motion and can encourage lymphatic drainage.

Sports and remedial massage also helps to reduce: stress, areas of muscular tension, pain caused by soft tissue dysfunction and scar tissue following injury. I also provide a postural assessment (where applicable), as part of your initial consultation, as this can have a major impact on musculoskeletal function.

will it hurt?
Some techniques may be uncomfortable but never will they be unbearable. I work on quality of pressure not quantity! I always communicate and work with my clients to make sure my techniques never cause this sort of discomfort.

what should I wear?
Loose fitting shorts should normally be bought to all sessions. I may ask you to remove certain items of clothes when working on the back, shoulders etc. but this is always your decision. Your comfort is also a major focus and I always use towels to make sure my clients are always covered so they feel at ease during all treatments. This allows you to relax and get the maximum benefit from the appointment. My room has both heating and air conditioning for added comfort.
